The freshness of the lavender field makes a wonderful spray for rooms and linens.
n 2005 my husband and I visited the lavender fields of Sequim, WA, during the Sequim Lavender Festival. It was love at first sight. Cutting bundles of fresh lavender and inhaling the aroma, I knew I had to learn more about this amazing herb. I was in awe and I resolved to bring that same beauty to our home in the Loess Hills of Iowa.
In 2009 we broke ground with 1200 Lavender plants. Since then we have continued to add more plants through our 4 years of operation. We now have over 2000 plants boasting 10 different varietals and have lavender growing in 2 of our 9 farm-able acres. We strive to make the grounds a place of natural beauty integrating native grasses and flowers to enhance the property spring, summer, or fall.
In 2011 we added our gift shop. It is a space I truly enjoy, and it enables me to give my presentation for large groups and during our Living Loess tour day. We have a wide variety of art and craft products made by local area artists, not to mention our popular Loess Hills Lavender bath and skin care products.
Stop to smell the flowers, while you walk through the fields. Relax and find a place of peace and reconciliation for the soul.
